Eos Natural foods was started 46 years ago, in 1973. In it’s current form Eos specializes in providing a number of different quality foods and home products. The products provided are specifically sourced ensuring that foods are any of: Local, Organic, Ethically Sourced, Non-GMO, and have no artificial colours or flavouring. Beyond food goods, the owner, Amanda Vaz is attempting to ensure buying practices with the intention of creating zero waste, that is products in glass and metal as opposed to plastic packaging or bars of dish soap instead of bottles of liquid soap.
Amanda’s goal in operating Eos is a kind of extension of her personal values which include taking care of the soil, minimizing the creation of waste, and promoting health and wellness through cooking from scratch. Her motivation in choosing products is inspired by thinking about a few choice aspects:
What is enjoyable to cook with?
What is enjoyable to eat?
Would she cook this food for friends or family?
Overall, Eos is a great local store with a wide variety of goods to choose from and a lot of specialized knowledge on those goods. Certainly it can be considered a role model for the community and a store everyone should go to at least once.
